Library keeps defaulting to "Calibre Library" folder
As the title says, I'm trying to use my own folder name and library, because I want to have separate libraries with different content, so they aren't all jumbled into one big one.
The problem is, no matter how many times I remove the empty "Calibre Library" folder, it is always recreated on startup, and used as the default one. Is there any way I can get my chosen folder to be the one to open on startup? It's really starting to get annoying that I have to open the blank one, then manually switch to the one I'm using. |

Default is the last Library used ![]() Right-click the Library Icon: Create/Switch: Use Existing... Once connected, the name will be added to the Quick Switch list (Entry seen when using a different Library) The 'Delete' only removes a (forgets path as well) name from the list and leaves the actual folder intact |

I'm not sure what you mean...
I created a new library, under a folder in the same directory as the main Calibre folder (inside which is folders named -> Calibre, Calibre Library, Calibre Settings, and the calibre-portable.exe file) Now whenever I first start Calibre, it defaults to the Calibre Library. So I use the arrow on the Library icon on my toolbar, it shows me this: Switch/Create Library Quick Switch -> Rename Library -> Remove Library -> Pick a Random Book Section V - Roleplaying (The library I'm trying to get to open by default) Library Maintenance -> I already knew I could switch my libraries through that. What I'm trying to address is why Calibre has to open "Calibre Library" by default, and why can't I make it reopen the one I was using, and subsequently my only library for the time being. |

Calibre Library/My Library << = Nested The additional Libraries have to be on a separate path Calibre Library My Library 2) If you were viewing Section V... That should be you default next Calibre Launch ![]() The only other possible gottcha is you don't have full (Write) access to the 'Calibre Configuration' directory/files (preference Misc has a button to take you there). I would expect this one would rear up in many other uses of Calibre. |

I have Calibre Portable on a USB drive, that is always hooked up to the main PC.
It's not a "nested" library. The Calibre install is in Calibre, and Section V is a folder alongside that one. Like this: Calibre -> Calibre -> Calibre Library -> Calibre Settings -> calibre-portable.exe Section V It doesn't make much sense that I can run Calibre on a removable drive...but it screws up when the library is on the removable drive. |

calibre portable only supports one library, named Calibre Library which is always opened by default. If you want multiple library support you need to update to 0.8.70, as noted in the what's new section of the calibre website.
