				Wierd Wi-fi problem

I seem to be experiencing a really wierd wi-fi issue. My wi-fi seems to have taken a dislike to Mobileread! I can connect to MR via my phone (hence this message) but via wi-fi I just can't! It will connect to any other web site but not MR. This is the same on my Android tablet, my son's iPad and my laptop. I am baffled, anybody have any bright ideas? |

Well... OpenDNS do have an IPv6 DNS available 2620:0:ccc::2 and 2620:0:ccd::2 and Google is 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844 |

It is true that Google DNS and Open DNS can be faster than some existing solutions or settings, like AT&T, but I would not blinded change the DNS settings without validating 1st. How fast a DNS will resolve depends of several factors, your location is one of those. So what's fast for you, maybe is not so fast for me. Instead, I would check available DNS servers. This link is nice: http://code.google.com/p/namebench/ It checks your existing DNS server settings against other local DNS servers, compare, and give you a report of which one is faster and for how much (latency in ms). You can always switch back if you don't like the change. You just log into your router and remove the new settings. I wont go back to Charter's DNS. I use them since 2006 and never knew why sometimes sites just wouldn't load. No longer an issue for me. |

We don't have this problem with FiOS, but used to have sites occasionally blocked via Comcast. Would have to turn off the router, then the modem, then turn the modem back on then the router. Am mystified as to what caused it, but it drove me insane.

Carpetmojo... DNS = Dynamic Name Server The Internet runs on IP numbers. Mobileread's IP is 67.205.70.12. DNS translates Names to IPs. I don't know what you're running, but there are numerous ways to change your DNS. Check with your provider. |
