You might contact the manufacturer and tell them your story and see if they can do something.

You might post the brand, someone might know how to get around your problem. Check in your settings and see if there is a reset to new feature or something like that, this might well get rid of the registration. I might add that I have purchased too much stuff on this forum and never had a problem - however you do need to be careful and weigh the possible problems against the new price :-( |

That's a good point. Don't many of the readers have an option to reset to factory resets? Not just settings, but the kind that reimages and erases all the books currently on the reader?

Not sure about other readers but the Kindle has a way to deregister the device and do a factory reset through the device. They can't be the only company that implemented this.

Does she know how to do it? It's easy to do online...

If she's not gonna bother setting it up for you to use then she should give you your money back! How rude. |

Surely something can be done! Have you contacted the manufacturer yet?

I must admit, I have purchased 2 used kindles from e-bay, and not an issue with either transaction. I guess thru e-bay there is some recourse that can be taken. |

I have contact Sony several times. They just say IF its a Legal Sale She should de-activate it from her account. At this point I wonder IF they think I stole it! YES she should return my money & take it back IF she regretting selling it.

Well, they sure are acting like it. Can you get a bill of sale & e-mail it to Sony? With the hopes that they can de-activate it.

Nobody should have to go to small claims court over an e-reader. Shame. |

Ask on the Sony board, I am pretty sure there is a way around this and there are some clever people there.

So you can do a factory reset via the device. Maybe that'll help.
