Suggestion: personalized lists in the Calibre sidebar

You can do that with a tag type column.

Add a custom column call "Playlist". Make it a tag-type. Set the value for one of the books to the playlist name you want. "Playlist" will appear in the tag browser with the playlist name under it. Dragging a book to the playlist name will add that book. Keep doing the last two steps to add new playlists and books to the playlists.

After posting, I realised that order might be important. In that case, use a series type column. But, I don't thing you will be able to put a book into multiple playlists with a series type column.

There are three ways of doing this, the way davidfor stated, through saved searches, and through restrictions. They are all explained on this page. The example says Genre, when you go through this example just substitute playlists whenever they say genre.
