Finally upgrading my Sony PRS-505

I've decided that it's finally time to upgrade my Sony PRS-505 for a non-Fire Kindle. I already have 2 Android tablets, no need for a third. I'm going to miss the epub support but I have been a long time Amazon customer (3 years of Prime membership).

I'm looking forward to the Sept 6th announcement to get the details on my future toy. In the meantime, I guess I will start converting all these epubs over to mobi.

Does Amazon typically begin selling the new devices right after announcement or is there usually a long preorder wait?

last time, the non-touch version was available soon after the press conference, along with the Fire, but the Touch version was 2 or 3 months behind....I hope its different this time as I wanted my lighted Touch soon!

While you are waiting, you can get a Sony T1 or T2. They are awesome!

I have found that in the past that amazon tends to announce new generations of the kindles around XMas time, I would recommend that you "keep your powder dry" until the XMas season starts up around Halloween.
