The Fifth Man by James LePore is a litfic-ish dramatic thriller exploration of organized crime and trying-to-be-ordinary families, free courtesy of publisher The Story Plant.

This is a sequel to his previous novel, Sons and Princes, which we've also received free in the past. If you happened to miss out and want to try it, apparently it's marked down to $1.99 in selected stores (I'm seeing it at iTunes Canada thus far), and books from this imprint are couponable @ Kobo.

Currently free @ B&N (may also drop later in the UK), Amazon UK (slated to drop in the main store after midnight Pacific Time).

This is likely to be B&N's Free Fridays selection of the week, given that Fiction Studio/The Story Plant (incidentally run by ex-Big 6 editor Lou Aronica who used to handle Robert Silverberg's books, among others) have frequently supplied a lot of those over the years.
