Hello,

I am Matthias, <guru@unixarea.de>. I live in Munich, Germany.

Having a long experience with UNIX and FreeBSD. I'm looking now for a MobileReader, maybe to replace my netbook (running FreeBSD and KDE) with something smaller, but something which I could use to read documents (PDF, epub, ..), or pages in Internet or make even SSH connections to my server at home when I'm sitting in the greens or beergarden of Munich. If it would allow to write some stuff, let's say HTML with an editor vi, it would be even better. And, if it would be possible to port FreeBSD to it, even more better. But some Linux is a good point to start. Even my mobile cellphone runs Linux, the Openmoko Freerunner...

While searching the net, I stumbled over the Openinkpot pages, and here I am.

What would be today the best device for running the above ideas, or to start with something, the best device for Openinkpot?

Well, as I said, I'm using a netbook EeePC 900 (16+4 GByte SSD, 1 GB RAM, 1 MHz CPU, running FreeBSD 9-CURRENT and KDE) which is fine; but ofc around 1 kilo to carry around :-(

I've been using notebook/laptop PC for years. They are fine until I need to carry one on business trips. It's a pain. So I'm looking forward to switching to a Windows tablet eventually. My ideal one will be a 7" Windows tablet that, when inserted in a docking station, can function like a normal PC.
