Welcome Wizard question: setting up for Kindle
When running the Welcome Wizard, it asks for what device you have. I assume this is to set up conversion defaults; that is, if I select Amazon > Kindle, my conversion default will be to mobi. What else is determined by this selection?
We also have a K3, a K4, and a DX. I notice the K3 and K4 are combined in one option, but the DX is separate. How does it matter which one I select, and what does this mean when I attach the DX to send books to it? What are the advantages of selecting a specific device over selecting "Generic"? Thanks so much! |

Selecting a device (mainly) chooses two things: Output format for conversions and the output profile for conversion (screen size). THe screen size is used when resizing images during conversions to fit on the screen.
There are other less important things that get set by device choice, but I wont go into them as they are too many/too small. The device you choose in the wizard has no impact on calibre detecting/connecting to other devices. You should only choose generic if your particular device is not in the list. |
