So, when Kindle Fire came out, Amazon made a big deal about all the exclusive digital graphic novels they had from DC Comics. And yeah, that was pretty great!
...But I'm pretty sure they haven't added any new graphic novels from DC since the Fire launched (or Marvel for that matter, but they never had those). Sure there's the Comixology app, but for the past several months it's been impossible to buy DC Comics through the Kindle Fire app. You have to do this convoluted process of buying them from the Comixology website, and then checking your purchased items in the app and THEN downloading. Anyone have any guesses what's going on between Amazon and DC? ![]() |

I'm guessing it's just more profitable for them to sell them in the Kindle format, so they remove the option from the app. This is one of the reasons I ditched my Fire, its just too locked-down; not to mention I abhor the Fire comic viewer.
I just use comiXology exclusively. The constant sales are too hard to resist. |

I don't think it's just Amazon.
The DC selection is the same elsewhere: http://www.the-digital-reader.com/20...he-nook-store/ Apparently they haven't released any more in ebook form. |

That's pretty interesting. I wonder if they're not getting good sales from Amazon. Still, it's not fair for Amazon to then lock DC out of Comixology... they're just hurting the people who bought a Fire.

After reading the article, it makes me wonder if it's just the line about them not wanting to convert their files 3 times. Of course, I'd just prefer them to sell the CBZ files themselves (no DRM) and I can use them in Perfect Viewer.

I suspect it's what RainingLemur said, as it does take some time to convert comics into eBooks (especially the K8 format).
CBR/CBZ is probably not going to happen soon, as it lacks DRM, and while it can theoretically be read in any device that supports the format, might not necessarily look good on small tablets. From what I've seen of sold comics online though, PDF is more likely. (CBR/CBZ in my experience are usually pirated comics.) |

And DC's titles are still relatively popular in Amazon's comics section. |

I love Comixology and have no problem buying DC comics, but I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab, not a Kindle Fire.

Just an update -- noticed DC has added some new books to the Amazon store -- mostly collections of New 52 comics. I bought a collected edition of Neal Adams Batman books for about $10. Good deal!
Glad to see DC hasn't abandoned Kindle Fire! |

I'm not surprised. I didn't know this about the Kindle and comics. I will keep this in mind for the future. Thanks for the head's up.
