Physically modding a Kobo wifi
I was looking at this thread https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho....php?p=1302730
and it showed the back of the motherboard for the Wifi. Software "quirks" aside, it's a solid little reader. The only thing I'm seeing three days into reading it, is that it's very hard on my hand to turn the pages. (Part of why I had e-readers in the first place is that my hands are bad and I can't hold things in certain positions for very long.) I've done some computer modding and soldering, and I'm wondering if anyone has tried adding extra left and right page turn buttons to the unit? |

If you have the original one with the physical buttons (as opposed to a Kobo Touch) then I don't see why you couldn't add extra buttons if you can solder neatly enough to attach to the existing button solder pads.

Talk to your local amateur radio club. They might have a few folks who are highly experienced electronics repair folks who have the knowledge and equipment to work with the circuit boards.

I'll try it this weekend. My husband is convinced I'm insane, but it was only $30 at Target, so he's not going to kill me.

Opening Kobo wifi was easy. My tools was finger nails and a plastic guitar pick. Start at top left corner. While I had no problems others have damaged the screen.
Need to find switches this source might have something. http://www.digikey.com |
