I read this years ago. It's a good book, but it always amused me that the cover on my paperback copy had a front-on T-72 tank, with very obvious rifling in the barrel. The T-72 actually has a smooth-bore gun, with no rifling

That was quick. It's now £1.98 in the UK, which is about £3. Frankly, it's around 250,000 words, so it's still good value for money.

If you liked Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy, you'll like Red Phoenix. Tom Clancy always credited Larry Bond as a co-writer of Red Storm Rising. I've no idea why his name didn't appear on the book.

I don't have my copy any more, unfortunately. This is the best image I could find. You can more-or-less see the rifling, but it's not very clear.

I've still got it in paperback, read quite a lot of his books, and enjoyed them. Might have got the e-book if it was still free.

Maybe I'm observant (my wife says otherwise), but I suspect it's because I'm a geek

One thing I'm geeky about is military hardware, particularly Soviet cold war-era military hardware. On the paperback, it stood out like a sore thumb to anyone who knew it shouldn't be rifled. I knew several people who knew it was wrong, and they all spotted it without any prompting.
