You have all probably answered this question a million times but (here it is again)....
Hi, I recently purchased the Ebookwise 1150; I purchased books from Fictionwise and everything was great and wonderful. The books downloaded onto the device simply and easily. I recently went to another website and purchased ebooks in the format recommended (.html) by that site for the Ebookwise 1150. How do I get those books onto my device. I downloaded them to my computer as the website directed- NOW WHAT??? How do I get them onto the device. I have connected, reconnected, unplugged, turned stuff on and off and still nothing! Sorry for shouting but I've been trying this download thing off and on for 4 days. By the way, hello and greetings from beautiful Philadelphia! Thanks, Jacie ![]() |

1. Go the the eBookwise web site and upload the file. It will be converted for you and you can then download directly to the device from the web site. 2. Convert the file(s) using eBook Publisher. This is a free download from the eBookTechnologies web site. Available for PC and MAC. 3. Convert the file use GEBLibrarian (aka eBookwiseLibrarian). This product will cost you about $15 but is a handy converter and eBook manager for a PC. It can be purchased from teh ebookwise web site. Check the various tools to see what formats they import. All of the above will import HTML. Be sure and check the format before you buy a eBook. There are many sites that already support the eb-1150 but for others you will need to convert the file. Dale |

Hi- Don't forget the personal content server found via the bookshelf on tab on the ebookwise site. It let's you upload items for free to a secure server, then with your 1150 connected to your PC you can download them. Not sure how this works with html (I just uploaded an html file but can't download it til I get home) but it worked fine with an .rb book I uploaded (and am currently reading) and says that it supports:
Rich Text Format (.rtf) Rocket eBook Editions (.rb) Plain text files (.txt) Microsoft Word (.doc) Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt) OEBFF (.oeb) Hope this wasn't considered too off-topic but I also just received my 1150 and I'm not ready to pay for the librarian software until I find out all that I can do without it. Good luck- |

The Librarian is really worth the money for its convenience if you intend to put many books on the Ebk1150 and use it heavily. Before I gave my Ebk1150 to my father in law I used Librarian heavily and never regretted shelling 15$ for it.
For free there is the ETI software from the original makers of Ebookwise, which has interesting capabilities including batch converting, so I used it once in a while, but the Librarian is so convenient (you have all your imp books in a place, can edit their metadata, sort them, send them to device/card ...) http://www.ebooktechnologies.com/sup...r_download.htm |

Yvan is correct: I've converted hundred of books into imp using Book Designer. The sources have been rtf, doc, html and txt files.

I too have made hundreds of IMP format ebooks with BookDesigner. Plus it is free. There is a sticky by Jon about how to download and install it. Great for making IMP books; but. there is no librarian included.

As a follow-up.. I was able to download the html file to the 1150 from the personal server so you can try this as well. Thanks for the info about BookDesigner. I've downloaded the latest executable and HarryTs tutorials but install/ trying it out will have to wait until after homework. Thanks to all that have been in this position before and who are sharing their hard-earned knowledge. ![]() |

1. you cannot control the font size and it defaults to x-small/medium while eBook publisher defaults to small/large. I find x-small to be a little too small for reasonable reading. 2. It always make fully justified text eBooks and full width with no margins. This can be exactly what you want but I would like a couple pixels margin particularly on the right. Currently the letter r at the end of a line gets chopped a bit. I actually prefer left justified but that may just be me. It solves the problem of the r at the end of the line in 99% of the cases. I like fully justified when kerning is supported but none of the creation programs support kerning. 3. BD does support images and toc but it can be a bit tricky to get it to work right in all cases. You need to add the tag <a name="toc" /> in the source manually to get the jump to toc to work. But then you need to do this to eBook Publisher books as well. Dale |

BookDesigner 4.0/update
Quote:
Thanks very much for the advice. I installed the 4.0 (found via WIKI), extracted the latest update and did a 'yes to all' when asked about replacing files. I was unable to upload the .imp version of the book to the personal content server (make book = GEB) so I tried again and made it a .rb file, uploaded and moved it to my reader. My TOC links don't work but I see the note below and will try that this weekend. If the librarian is super easy I may just get that. Between money for classes, etc., and waiting to get billed for the kindle I'm just feeling very 'anti-spend' right now. ![]() Thanks again for your help- MsAnthrope |
