KF8 page numbers

Question about KF8's page numbers.

Does KF8 use the APNX file like Mobi or does it get the page numbers from the file like ePub does?

I don't know if it supports epub-like page number schemes, but it does support/use the same kind of APNX sidecar files than mobi7.

Thanks. Because of this i was able to go fix the problem with Calibre. It was not set correctly and was not using the pages column. Now it is and it works fine.

FWIW, before I started using kiwidude's awesome page count plugin, I was using this simple crappy patch to get apnx generated for KF8 files too, and it looked like it did the trick, at least with calibre generated files (not sure I sent drm'ed KF8 stuff during that time window).

EDIT: Killed deprecated attachments. Fix merged upstream.

You don't actually need to patch Calibre. Calibre works as is to send APNX files to the Kindle with the combo AZW3 files. You just have to go into the plugins and select AZW3 for The Kindles that support KF8 and configure the page number column correctly. If you need/want any more details, I'll go into Calibre and get them for you.
