Looks like the next big move in the "battle of the screens" between Apple, Google, Amazon , and Microsoft:

Maybe, maybe not. With how many people gobbled up the Fire, it wouldn't surprise me to see an Amazon Ember® sell very well.

they should really have a nice talk with Vizio about trying to launch a phone in the US and listen very carefully why Vizio decided against it

I'm guessing an Amazon phone would probably be something similar to an HTC or Samsung phone -- android based and with a decent sized screen. However, I just don't see Amazon releasing a truly innovative phone with features like Apple's Suri. It's just not something I'm getting excited about.

However, I like RainingLemur's Amazon Ember® name. Very nice.

No. The Fire has been a tremendous success. What makes you think otherwise? Amazon have said that the Fire has been their best-selling ever product.

Maybe Amazon should just gobble up Nokia. They have all the technology but really missed on the paradigm shift to smartphones.

Given that they already have an Android-based reading app, I would expect (if there's any truth in this rumour) an Android device.
