Working! Reading Homer's Iliad on the Cybook
It took me some four letter words this afternoon, but I have what I wanted: a mobipocket book with the (first 12 for now) books in ancient Greek of Homer's Iliad.
For a while I thought it wouldn't work, because I started out trying to get a text file to display Greek, but mobipocket does the job just fine. Most pleased! Groet, Adelheid |

This would be of great interest to me, Adelheid. Can you explain what you did, please?

Hi Harry,
I used a UTF-16 encoded source file (saved it to that encoding on a Mac). I uploaded the file to a Windows pc and imported it, using Mobipocket Creator Home Edition v4.2, and built the prc file. I then placed it on my SD card in the Cybook. I also made sure to have a suitable font on the Cybook (called 'Gentium'). When I opened the book on the Cybook, at first boxes were displayed for various accented characters, but switching to the Gentium font made them all visible. I didn't mention that the Iliad I was reading was Homer's. That was me trying to be funny, given the existence of an ebook device called the Iliad.

As adelheid said you need a font that supports ancient greek. Modern greek is supported out of the box (the alphabet is the same, just much less word stress marks).
