I'm reading Savages... gotta say i'm not impressed. Maybe it's because he's writing in second person, maybe because he's a lousy writer.

Has anyone read this book? if so, is it worth sticking with it?

I've read it, although in Danish. I like Frankie Machine better.
But its way better than all the Swedish girl-crime-stuff that usually gets promoted this side of the pond.
But Winslow is probably satisfied with the sales of the book. There's a prequel on amazon:

Generally I like Don Winslow but don't think I will read savages.
The Winter of Frankie Machine and A Long Walk Up the Water Slide are very good IMO.

He writes in the second person? That's very unusual - can you give a small quote to illustrate? I've only ever come across one book that (parts of) were written in the second person.

Funny I was just looking for some opinions on this book just the other day as Audible has it in there 2 for 1 sale in the end I didn't get it as I've never read him and some seemed to think it wasn't one of his better books. I saw the trailer for the film the other day though and may check that out.
