The best choice is an iPad or 10" Android tablet. Or the Kindle DX, but that means you can only read mobi.

DX reads PDF's and many other formats. It does not read EPub.

Maybe this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7wGHv-vWmw
If the PDF isn't optimized for the screen size it's still cumbersome, but it's a start. |

What about the Onyx Boox M92? It's probably (from what I gather, I don't have anything larger than my PRS-950) the best large screen eink (Pearl) device which can handle PDFs. And it supports ePub and non-DRM mobi...as well as many other formats...

Not getting a tablet for reading PDFs make no sense.

For many people it does make sense. There is much to be said for the ease on the eyes that e-ink provides. If I could get a 12 inch e-ink reader, I would happily get one.
As someone who stares at and reads PDFs on a monitor all day, it is so much nicer to come home and kick back and read on a real e-reader not a tablet. The problem is that the current crop of ereaders are suboptimal for reading PDFs in some categories, while the tablets are suboptimal in other categories. There is no perfect device, but then again there never is. |

I agree!
The bigger the screen the better! You can have more desktop real-estate, or bigger fonts to be easier on the eyes, or a combination of both ![]() I get the biggest possible (affordable) desktop monitors for this reason too (27" seems to be the current limit before the price starts skyrocketing). |

Agree with those who say get a tablet. Yes, it would be great if we could have an e-ink device that dealt well with pdfs (I also like reading on e-ink screens), but they don't currently exist.

I really don't see any technical restrictions to bringing out a full Android tablet with an e-ink screen. Would definitely lap one up.
I guess it's just overall market considerations.. the same reason only 6" e-ink readers are widely available, and it's very hard for most people to find/buy a large screen e-reader (especially since Amazon ditched the big Kindle DX and Sony ditched their Daily Edition) ![]() |
