Force Quit Constantly Necessary... Library to Big?

I have a mac with approximately 93,000,000 books in my library. For the last month or so I have had to force quit several times a day because the program stops responding. Even the smallest actions are very slow and the spinning beach ball is almost always there.

I have deleted the plist in preferences several times to no avail as well reinstalling the software.

Should I split my library? If yes, any suggestions how to do so efficiently.

Don't know the answer, but with 93 million books, you could read one per mile if you ever take a trip to the Sun.

Unless, being European, you went by the metric route.

That all depends on how you want to sort your library. I have about 26,000 files and divide them into 20 or so libraries. I keep fanfic separated by fandoms, and others separated by genre.

I have Science Fiction-Fantasy-Supernatural and Urban Fantasy in one, and Westerns, Romance-Erotica, textbooks and others in different libraries.

I find the program gets a little slow for me about 8,000 in a library, but could go with more.

So it just depends on how you want to divvy up your collection.
