Kindle electrical contact issues
hi people,
my old DX is starting having problems: the cable connection is very weak, and I see that small movements switch on / off the led, so inhibiting recharging and file transfer. Do you know any workaround, be it DIY or 3rd party repair? thanks! |

Even so, a jerk on the cable can damage a connector. It is possible for that your CABLE is damaged, so first try a different cable from another device that uses a microUSB cable. If still a problem, it is possible that the the microUSB jack on the kindle circuit board has a cracked solder joint. That would be difficult to repair unless you have SMT soldering skills, but it can be done if you know somebody with those skills. It is also possible that the connector is worn out, but it can be replaced with a new one or a used one salvaged from a scrapped electronic device (requiring SMT soldering skills). But first, try using a different USB cable... P.S. Also, inspect the microUSB jack exposed to the outside of the kindle. Perhaps it has dirt in it and just needs cleaning with compressed air and/or small tweezers. |
