Sony PRS-T1 will not allow me to set up an Account

I believe that in order to authorize my my wife's PRS-T1 I must first set up an account. Unfortunately the device will not let me do this. I go into the Sony Store and click on set up a new account. The device allows me to enter email address, name and password but when I get to page 3 it stalls on the select country box. It simply does nothing when I click on select country. At one stage my country, UK, mysteriously appeared in the box but this made no difference - when I clicked Submit it still went on nagging me to select a country. Unfortunately it's now only Saturday evening and Sony customer support does not open until Monday morning so I was hoping that someone might have a useful suggestion. |

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I seem to have a problem on that front too. I already have Adobe Digital Editions loaded for downloading books from my local library (which works perfectly). The Adobe help lists the PRS-T1 as an acceptable device. It also says, as you mentioned, that all I need to do is connect the PRS-T1 and Adobe will then recognise and authorise the device. However, it doesn't do this - nothing happens. Ah, well, I suppose that I'd better call Sony tomorrow. |

I actually used the sony reader software that's supplied on the T1 to authorise (installer is on one of the drives if I remember right). I think digital editions authorised the computer and then the Sony Reader software authorises the reader. It took me a while (few days which is a long time for me) to work out how to do it when there was no reader store in the UK at the time, the Sony instructions aren't very helpful and just presumed we all lived in america were there was actually a store. |

I authorized my T1 by using the reader store link on the T1. I already had ADE set up on my computer. To the OP: make sure you use the same email and password you used for ADE.

Just to say that the problem has now sorted itself. The Sony account set-up on the Reader was out of action this morning because Adobe was doing maintenance (or so the message on the screen said). This maintenance has now finished and the Sony Reader has let me complete setting up an account. So, I suppose I can blame Adobe if I feel like blaming anyone. |
