To perform a factory reset:
From your home screen, press the menu button. Travel to 'Settings'. Once in the settings screen, press the menu button again. There is now an option in the menu to restore to factory settings. Note that your kindle will become deregistered and you will lose all your books, though, so be prepared for a minute or two of work afterwards! ![]() Last edited by kleinste; 05-23-2012 at 06:29 PM. I think your only option is to identify the jailbreak that you used, and locate the uninstaller for it.

How do you plan to install a new firmware image? Do you have a cable and connector for the serial port? That is documented in the kindle developer's corner too. People who understand how this stuff works hang out in that forum. You will get more useful help there. What you are interested in is the seaniko7 youtube video showing how to reflash the image on a K3. There are some K3 links in the "simple debricking" sticky.
There are people there who will PM you a link to a temporary download for a firmware image if you ask nicely. We cannot post direct permanent links to firmware images for obvious reasons. Last edited by geekmaster; 05-23-2012 at 09:06 PM. |

You did not answer my questions. You did not make a request in the developer's corner like I suggested. How can people who have the firmware you request know that you want it?
EDIT: I know that others in the kindle developers corner have provided K3 firmware images to those who requested them in that forum. I do not have a "non-hacked" firmware image. My K3s have hacks installed, so it would not satisfy your request to copy them. You need to ask in the other forum as I suggested, if you are still interested in obtaining an image. It would help a lot if you say that you already know how to install the image, to help convince people that they should give you what you are asking. This post shows how to install a firmware image on a K3 after you get one: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho....php?p=2062154 Last edited by geekmaster; 05-24-2012 at 09:29 PM. |

Amazon tech support staff told me VERBALLY that providing firmware images for REPAIR purposes was "probably fine". I did not yet receive WRITTEN permission from their legal staff as I had requested. I suspect that their tolerance has much to do with whether our actions harm or help them. Their legal staff is aware of us and would send a takedown notice if they decided that our actions cause them more harm than good. We are helping them by providing free third-party support to their customers here.
EDIT: Even with verbal permission from amazon support staff, it is better to request firmware images using PMs. We do not want to openly publish direct links to firmware images here (or requests for them). We do not want to exceed the tolerance threshold of the amazon legal staff. ![]() Last edited by geekmaster; 06-02-2012 at 03:40 PM. |

If you are aware of a "line problem" that is NOT from a cracked screen, please post a link here. I would like to learn more about it. Thanks. Last edited by geekmaster; 06-01-2012 at 09:28 PM. |
