Hi Maureen:
You might want to repost your question with a subject line like "Need help deauthorizing a reader", which will help you get more replys. Also tell us: - What kind of reader is it (Sony I'm guessing)? And which model? - What problem is this causing? You can't get it working with your registered/protected content? Or it's still showing on the previous owner's account and that's a problem for them? Cheers, Bob |

I hope I'm wrong but to the best of my knowledge the previous owner should have deauthorized it before selling it. According to Sony to authorize it to a new user it first has to be deauthorized by the previous one.
I don't know how to do that by the second owner when the first owner no longer has possession of the reader & can't deauthorize it. Did you try searching the forums here or Googling the answer? Good luck to you! Try this from the Mobileread Wiki. It's instructions for a hard reset. Follow the instructions for your model. https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Sony..._.28PRS-300.29 Last edited by Shopaholic; 05-23-2012 at 08:18 AM. Reason: Add link to Wiki |

If you call Sony, they can deauthorize the reader.
But, you will have to figure out how to convince them you legally own it and it is not stolen. Better would be to get the previous owner to call and deauthorize it. |
