I know this thread has been around before but here it goes...
![]() If you had to get one of these two ( or another if you think there is a better choice) which one would you get and why? all the best, Teal'c ![]() |

Neither is a good choice for PDFs. No 6" device is good for PDFs.

I wouldn't base my choice on the pdf readability if you only read them occasionally. Both devices are good although I prefer my Sony for the user interface and extra physical buttons. However the Kobo is still very good and less expensive. Whichever you choose you will enjoy, I'm sure!

Personally, I'd get a Kindle
![]() But, given the choice between the two devices you name, I'd get the Sony. It's very well regarded by its owners, whereas the Kobo seems still to be a "work in progress" judging by what I read on the Kobo forum here. It's improved a great deal over the last couple of years, but it still seems to have a little way to go in terms of stability. |

Here's a post from someone who did a really nice analysis of both:

For what it's worth (Cedesja5 linked to my post), I just decided to buy the T1. I paid $117 including taxes and shipping, which is only $2 more than I could've bought a Kobo in store for.
It came down to an issue of ergonomics, the ability to download ebooks to it directly from libraries, and Kobo's persistent problems (both management and technical issues). |

I think the overall quality is better on the Sony (well my 650 is pretty awesome) but Kobo has a great ecosystem which lets you read on your Kobo and your iOS/Android phone or your iPad. I would love to have that kind of syncing ability with my 650.

I have had both. Needless to say the kobo went back to the store after a few days.
The majority of my books i have converted all to PDF as that was the format my old reader used (off brand crap from ebay) and as i really didn't want to spend an excessive amount of time reformatting them i first tried the kobo and then went to the sony. the sony has better functionality with page search and whatnot which was a big must for me as i can read both on my reader and from my pc at work and switching between the 2 can be annoying if you cant just go in and go to page 100 or whatever quickly and easily which the kobo cant do. |
