Converting CBR file to be read landscape?
As we all know, there are still a good number of books that are only available as scanned PDF and not ebook files. In the past I've converted some books from PDF to JPEG, and then saved those images as a CBR file, and converted that to epub. That was fine when I wanted to read the books in portrait mode. Now I have some books whose pages are too long to be read in portrait mode on my PRS-505.
When I use Calibre's settings to process the images as "Wide", or output the epub in Sony Landscape Mode, or essentially no matter what setting I use, I find that the text of the scan is too jaggy to enjoy reading comfortably in landscape mode, even though the original images have more than enough resolution to be resampled comfortably. The other problem I get (depending on what profile I use), is that the image is clipped and parts of the page are missing. Anyone find a solution to this problem? |
