Embedded epsilon tonos in ADE

As mentioned in another thread Jellby has helped me to embed DejaVuSans.ttf and DejaVuSans-Oblique.ttf in an ebook, and get that ebook to show Greek characters with accents (tonos) and in italics.

But I've just noticed that even though the other accented Greek characters show as they should epsilon tonos does not show in ADE; it just gives a question mark. It does show as expected in mobi and iPad/iBooks. I've tried both entities &941 and &#x03AD, but that shouldn't make any difference anyway if &941 works in mobi and iBooks.

Is this a fault in ADE? Or has anyone got epsilon tonos to work in ADE with another font? Any suggestions?

What ADE version is it? Maybe 1.8 works better than 1.7. Moreover, ADE ignores things like bidirectionality, I wouldn't be surprised if it has issues with diacritics and so on.

There shouldn't be a difference between έ, &#941 or &#x03AD (with semicolons), those are simply diferent input encodings, but once in the guts they are all the same character.
