KT - Show collection (number)
Hallo Everybody,
I use the collection field in calibre and remove this information from the title. No problem in calibre, but the collection isn't shown on the kindle. Is it possible to show the number of the book within the collection after the title in brackets? If there is no option, could it be solved with a hack? Kind regards Dirk |

Sounds as if you'd be better off using SERIES information in Calibre. That way, you can automatically append the series name and number within the series to the title when you send the book to the Kindle by using a Plugboard.

I thought it would be easy to add this information to the field "Title sort" in the Metadata, after I add the Series and its Number. But I didn´t found the option.
Can you give me a hint? Thank you! Dirk |

The first two options (depending what configuration you want) in this sticky thread are for appending series information to the title when you send the book from calibre to your Kindle. It won't change what displays in your calibre library, but will change how the book is named when you put it on your Kindle. You add the plugboard in Preferences > Metadata Plugboards.

Thank you! That works fine.
First I want to get a template, that makes a initial form from a series: Title: The Two Towers Series: The Lord of the Rings SeriesNumber: 2 This should give: The Two Towers - TLotR [2] But after some time on this site I saw that this is not as easy as only add the series number. Thanks and best regards Dirk |

You'll find a lot of examples in this thread. I know there is an example of how to use shorten series in there (I used to use it, now I use a custom column), but I think there's an example with series initials as well.

Thank you! I´ll take a look.
Perhaps I create a custom column or a program on weekend. Best regards Dirk |

So I created the example from the program mode with the three custom columns, which works very well.
I first tried to implement the green code below as a program in the "Template Functions", but I got the following failure notice: Code:
calibre, version 0.8.51 ERROR: Template functions: Exception while compiling function Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\preferences\template_functions.py", line 169, in create_button_clicked File "site-packages\calibre\utils\formatter_functions.py", line 1201, in compile_user_function File "<string>", line 5 program: ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax Best regards Dirk |
