Just received kindle fire
My uncle from LA came today and he gave me a kindle fire as a gift. Unfortunately, I cannot download even the free apps without registering a payment method. I'm not from the US and it told me that the AppStore is not available in the region. Is there a way to get around this? I'm mostly interested in downloading magazine apps that are free but t won't let me get them. Is the Fire useless for me now?

oh, nevermind. finally got what i wanted
 too bad the new yorker magazine app is corrupted and won't install
