Free (DRM-free multi formats) Messiah Choice by Jack Chalker [SF Apocalytic Thriller]

Well, if you could find nothing which appealed to you from the 22+ new official publisher freebie e-books which popped up in various venues today, here's another one which you finally may or may not like.

The Messiah Choice by Jack L. Chalker (ISFDB, Wikipedia) is Phoenix Pick Press' Free eBook of the Month for May.

This is a present-day or near-future sci-fi apocalyptic thriller involving a corporation, a cult, and a maybe-Antichrist computer, which was originally published in 1985 by Bluejay Books and picked up for paperback in 1985 by Tor.

The tie-in deal for the month is a 4-book bundle of Chalker's Lords of the Diamond far future sf sent-to-distant worlds series, for $14.99 in a DRM-free ePub & Mobi bundle when you buy directly from the publisher, which is a discount savings of 37% off the regular $23.77 bundle price and works out to $3.75 per book if you don't already have any of them.

The 1st book of LotD was offered as a previous Free eBook of the Month last year, and if you have it, you may want to take the month to read it before you decide.

This will be free and the tie-in deal good for the entire month of May, and you can get both @ the publisher's website (scroll down to the author's listing and click on the special Free eBook link and enter the coupon code 9991511 when it asks).

To get the special discount tie-in pricing for the LotD bundle, you need to use only the buy-link on the freebie download page, not the regular website one. There is no cloud, so you'll have to make your own backups, but you get a limited number of times to re-download if you need to.

Description
Sir Robert McKenzie, owner of the Magellan Corporation, dies suddenly in a mysterious and grisly way. His daughter may be next, for a Satanic cult is determined to herald the arrival of the apocalypse.

Greg MacDonald unravels the mystery of the cult, run by scientists with a distorted sense of duty and a computer that may be the Antichrist itself.

Thanks - never used Phoenix before, very simple and quick, and OK for UK-ers as well .

This is worth picking up if you're into SF. I think I've read everything Chalker wrote, owned most of it in paperback in earlier days. Chalker is a very solid writer, tends to be a little quirky in storylines, sometimes edging towards fantasy elements. For me, not the type that I'll read over and over, but surely enjoyable on the first reading!
