Touch Library and sync problems

I think I broke my Kobo Touch.

My problems started when I deleted an experimental ePub that we were trying out at work. We created the ePub and I side-loaded it to my Kobo Touch using Digital Editions to try it our. Earlier this week, I deleted it but I didn't do it through Digital Editions. That's when I noticed a problem. My Kobo was no longer remembering bookmarks after it had been turned off.

And that's not all. If I open a finished book from my library, it doesn't stay open. I side-loaded another book with DE. DE says its there but I don't see it on the eReader.

Right now I'm trying to load a free book from Kobo but the sync is stuck.

I've tried the reset pin on the back but that didn't fix anything. I suspect a factory reset would fix it, but as you can understand, I'd rather not do that if there's another option.

Has anyone had this problem before and fixed it without a factory reset?

Unfortunately your problem sounds exactly like internal database corruption.

I don't know if there is any other reliable fix than resetting it to factory defaults.

Have you tried sideloading the file you deleted in the first place, restarting your KT to allow it to 'accept' it again, then deleting it 'properly' with DE?

I think you could also try checking the .digital-editions folder on your KT to see if there are any strange files that shouldn't be there or remained from you installing the epub via DE.

As I suspected and GoingDown confirmed, a factory reset fixed the problem.
