KDX covers

Do all of the DX variants use the same covers? Are there any differences in the spacing between the hinge clips? If I order the old style Amazon leather cover online, will it fit a DXG?

Specifically:

EDIT: Oh, and I've searched and searched past discussions for the answer, but haven't found anything definitive...

AFAIK, yes. The old (white) DX is physically the same as the DX Graphite.

Apparently there was a big problem with the original Amazon leather cover. The hinges tended to break off when you accidentally opened the cover from the wrong side or folded the top back. Amazon forums are full of it. Later they stopped selling the original cover because they had to replace too many DXs and changed the design of the cover. Better check it out before you buy.

I read about it when I checked the user reviews for DX covers a few months ago and don't remember all the details.

Thanks for the warning. I put SmakDab clips on all of my Kindles, so I'll do the same with this.

I have an Oberon cover for my DXG. Expensive but gorgeous.

To be honest, I'm trying not to get too attached to it, just want to protect it during infrequent use while I have it. Bought it as a backup for our son in Uni who considers his an absolute necessity for reading academic PDFs. Got it when Staples was clearing them out for $160. Figured I'd use it now and then until he needs it.

I have had both covers for my DX and DXG and never had a problem at all. You need not be concerned unless you tend to be careless or hard on your devices.

That said, I have always picked up my Kindles as I would a closed book, not by the single front or back cover with the Kindle dangling from its connections. Common sense.
