Kindle Touch goes on sale in the UK
Amazon have today launched the Kindle Touch in the UK, with devices due to ship on 27th April. The price is £109 for the WiFi model; £169 for 3G.
Links: Kindle Touch: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005890FUI Kindle Touch 3G: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005890FOO I've not looked, but I would imagine it will also be launched in the other "national" Amazon stores, too. |

That's about $173 and $269. Not bad for the WIFI but the 3G is a bit high.

Yes, the £60 premium for the 3G is extremely high, I think. It's the highest there's been for any Kindle model, and now that 3G is restricted to accessing Wiki and the Kindle Store, I doubt there'll be many takers at that price.

I don't worry about having to have instant 3G access to the store, and I read magazines and papers on my iPad. I use the 3G primarily for making sure wherever I am my places are synchronised. Given I can't resist a new Kindle when one appears though, I reckon I am paying about £3.50 a month for that preference!
At least it's a one off sunk cost. amjb |

I currently have a US 3G Kindle Touch, which can't access the UK Kindle Store. I'm hoping that there'll be a new firmware version with the new UK model which will allow my US-bought Touch to access the UK Kindle Store.

Selling to South Africa as well. $189 for the 3G. Think I might do it. A bit concerned about negative reviews of the touch screen responsiveness. What do you think of it Harry?

Same here. I am assuming they will just change the URL for UK customers. They know I have a UK account - that's their excuse for not letting me into the store!

I've had mine since November and find it absolutely excellent. It uses exactly the same infrared touch screen that all the other eInk touchscreen devices do, which works very well indeed.

Would you say it's worth the price difference from the non-touch Kindle to have it touch enabled?

Thanks Harry. I am going to purchase myself a gift in that case.
