I went back and forth for several minutes about whether or not to buy this, then realized I was wasting time worrying about spending a quarter. Picked it up and I hope I won't hate it and lament all the pieces of gum I coulda bought for that quarter.

Ha, I even do that for freebies. I couldn't pass it up for a quarter either, even though it's not something I had on my radar. If I never read it, then at least I'm participating in showing publishers/authors that discounting sells books.

I do too sometimes. I just have so many books already on my Nook I haven't read yet, and to add more seems like just adding more clutter that I'll never get around to reading. The movie trailer looked interesting, but more in a "I'll watch this on Netflix" way, rather than a "I want to read 400 pages of this" way.

It's interesting that each region gets a different Play of the Day the Aussie one is I'm Not Scared by Niccolò Ammaniti, I remember my friend seeing the movie version and really like it so I picked it up.

I tried earlier to find the UK and Australian Google links with no luck, so I only posted the US/Canada Play of the Day. Based on the top sellers at Amazon UK, it appears that the UK Play for today is An Idiot Abroad: The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington. I have no idea what the UK Google link is, but here's the Amazon link.

I decided to do something different, and purchase this from Google Play. What better way than with a 25 cent book to give them a chance? Now to figure out how to sideload into my Kobo. There are lots of online guides on how to do that, though, so that's not my question (though responses are still appreciated obviously

Is there a way to buy a second copy from Google Play and gift it to someone? Amazon and Kobo both offer e-book gifting.

Huh, I wonder if I made a mistake going with the Google Play version rather than getting it through Amazon. I can't find any way to download an ePub, all I can find out how to do is view it on screen. I guess I can bring it up in the Kobo Vox's web browser? That's not what I would call ideal.

Make sure you get the whole book and not just the sample, there is/was a glitch in the download and I'm not sure if they've fixed it yet. Link for the workaround.

It's a DRMed Adobe epub that you download, there should be instructions available for how to get that to your Kobo, same procedure that you would use for library books after using Adobe Digital Editions probably.

It only gave me the options for Android and browser when I grabbed a free book to try it out. Ignore that and go to My Books after you purchase, click on the How to Read tab and scroll down to get to the download options.

The site is lacking bells and whistles and isn't easy to navigate. I give it a D.

Ok let me rephrase since I wasn't clear. I did get the Talk About Kevin book from the link in the OP. And the Play of the Day I was looking for was Kindle's. I didn't want to buy from Google. Or is Play of the Day only a Google thing and not a Kindle thing? I know Kindle has the Daily Deal but hadn't heard of Deal of the Day.

25 cents for a book is a good steal!! I want in on that.
