auto change file numbers?
I had thought that Sigil 0.5 should automatically change Chapter/Section/Content .xthml files so that they conform in an index or other hot-link file to the correct file numbers. However, it seems that it only does this sometimes. For example, I usually add my index file material to the epub after I have corrected most of the errors and obtain a proper validation. For example:
<h3 id="index_1">A.</h3> <p class="hangspc">Acids <a href="../Text/Section0000.xhtml#Page_102">102</a></p> <p class="hangspc">Actynolite <a href="../Text/Section0000.xhtml#Page_337">337</a></p> <p class="hangspc">—acicular <a href="../Text/Section0000.xhtml#Page_338">338</a></p> <p class="hangspc">—common <a href="../Text/Section0000.xhtml#Page_338">338</a></p> <p class="hangspc">—fibrous <a href="../Text/Section0000.xhtml#Page_338">338</a></p> <p class="hangspc">—glassy <a href="../Text/Section0000.xhtml#Page_338">338</a></p> However, I find that after adding this material in an "Index.xhtml" file, nothing happens - immediately or after saving and restarting. The "Section0000" s remain the same rather than being changed to the proper Section0001, Section0002, etc. Is there any way to force Sigil to correctly auto-change these numbers? (it worked fine for my Endnotes.xhtml file) Last edited by bobcdy; 03-12-2012 at 10:42 PM. |

![]() The only time Sigil changes references is if you rename the referenced file. My experience is Anchor points (#xyz) within the file can get orphaned on splits |

Thanks for the info! What I was trying to do with mixed results was to insure that in an index file, for example, that the original Section0000.xhtml s would be changed in the index so that the hotlinked page numbers for various subject would correctly go to the page number in the text for each subject. Experimenting, I found exactly what you indicated, that all Section0000s in the Index were correctly changed after I had renamed all the files in the book. Thus, my last endeavor provided apparently perfect renaming so all the hotlinks in the index and toc worked correctly . I was not aware that renaming required changes of the files.
I have a script file that will correct the problem for the Index.xhtml file contents but it is a bit cumbersome to use, and I greatly appreciate the ease and speed that Sigil auto-corrects the file designations. Last edited by bobcdy; 03-13-2012 at 12:19 AM. |

For what do you need a special index file where the ePub-Format offers an internal built in table of content (TOC)?
