Thumbs up Magic... it works

Always a joy to find that something actually works. First time. Without having to *** about. So thanks for a great piece of software that I'm just getting to grips with.

A bit of Kindle experience and a little question to start off. Using Ubuntu I could not get my Kindle (Model D01100... what is this called?) to connect. Eventually, I found that it would work connected directly to a USB port but wouldn't going via a USB2.0 hub. I'm sure someone will understand why.

And now a little question: I can see all the books on my Kindle just fine, and I have the user manual in the Library. But I'd like to back up the files from the Kindle into the Library. There's a button to send to device, but not one to fetch from device: have I missed something important ? Does one do backups some other way ?
