Archos 101 G9 Tablet
All, I have the money saved up and am going to buy a tablet. No more speculation, it is going to happen.
I want to have something that is easy to use so that when my baby comes in July I have something I can use in between feeding, changing diapers, and napping without going downstairs to my main computer. I have taken a look at the Galaxy tablet but I am just struggling with paying over $500 for a tablet. I want a 10 inch tablet so that I can enjoy movies and tv shows when travelling and I just like a larger monitor for playing silly games and checking email. I am looking at the Archos 101 G9 16 GB version. I have no intention of paying for a data package so I am fine with the WiFi varient. Has anyone here played with the Archos 101 Tablet? What thoughts do you have on it? Are there other options available to me? The IPad is out. Yes it works wonderfully and all that fun stuff but I have decided that I am not buying anything Apple. Their role in Agency Pricing pisses me off, and has cost me money, and I just can't bring myself to buy into the cult. |

I don't have one, but considered getting an Archos a little over a year ago. Held off due to reports on boards about build quality issues. Reviews of this one seem to indicate it's still iffy.
I'd go with a tablet from one of the electronic giants. The Sony goes for 400 new now. you also see deals crop up for the Xoom, Acer, etc. And with the new wave of 2nd generation devices coming (Xoom, Transformer Prime HD), there should be all kinds of deals soon. iPad 2s are about to be cheaper when the 3 comes out (I understand your qualms with them). And there will be an Amazon 10 inch coming soon. I'm no tablet snob (loved my Pandigital as a reader, RIP). But I would be a little leery getting the Archos unless you got a great price. |

I don't trust Amazon to put out a fully functional tablet. I have a feeling that it will be a 10 inch Kindle Fire and I find that to be too limited for my liking. I want my tablet to do what I want it to do without hacking and I want more memory then what I think Amazon will provide. The Fire excited me at first and then I saw how limited it was and was highly disappointed.
I'll take a look at the Sony and the Xoom. Thanks for the info on the Archos. |
