I've been reading them to my 4-year-old who absolutely adores them. I remember reading them when I was a young warthog. This is pretty sad news.

Wow. I can remember reading those books when I was a little kid and there was only Small Bear. Sister Bear was born several years later, after they moved from their cave in the mountains to that hollow tree.

I guess it's because I'm "old", but I never got into the Berenstain Bears. I passed the age they appeal to the most before they appeared.
I did, though, enjoy their "It's All in the Family" panels that ran in various magazines in the '50s and very early '60s. |
