Kindle Touch finally went international!

The international version was released today - it's only Kindle Touch WIFI ($139).

Finally I was able to order it to Poland: http://amzn.to/wEyKyQ :-)

Touch 3G is still "US Only" though if there's no free web browsing, it's not so big deal...

Hm. Seems that they are only shipping to countries without a "local" Kindle Shop yet. (E.g. they don't take an order from Germany but redirect to the German shop, where they don't have the Touch on offer.)

Maybe this version will roll out to the other stores soon.

In Amazon UK for a few days there had KT accessories but not the reader itself.

Now I can stop telling people it doesn't ship to South Africa. I think that's really the most exciting part about this announcement. =)

I asked Amazon UK. They replied:

Bringing the Touch to the UK (and other national Amazon stores) may need a firmware revision. When I try to connect to the Amazon bookstore from my (US) Kindle Touch I get a message saying that it's only able to connect to "amazon.com" but my account is at "amazon.co.uk".

That may perhaps account for the reason that the Touch isn't available to those people in countries where there is a local Amazon site.

Which I'm very disappointed about. I hope it's just a supply issue, and not a decision to phase out the 3G capacity in Canada.

No luck either when trying to ship one to France (redirects to the french KS, which doesn't stock the Touch).

Nobody who has a "national" Amazon site can buy it at present, perhaps because the Touch will currently only "talk" to "amazon.com".

That's strange. I bought a touch SO in USA 2 months ago, and I can connect and buy books from the french Amazon store without any problem.
It's a wifi one.

I hope not. That's the one I've been waiting for. They still sell the other Kindle versions with 3G in Canada. Hopefully it really is just a supply issue. Guess I'll just keep waiting. I do have the option to buy when I'm in the States but I'm worried that if it breaks I won't be able to return it.
