Add image causes crash

Hi!

I just had to format c: and reinstall win7 64bit, and ever since I have had a problem.

When I try to add an image, sigil crashes. Various epub files, and various image files all produce this.
I'm using sigil version 0.5.1 and "loaded Qt 4.7.4" (whatever that means!)

Anyone got any ideas how I can fix this? I have scanned many threads, but no joy.

Probably you add it via the book browser. Probably adding via the menu will work. If it is the same bug as the 'add fonts'-bug it will be fixed in 0.5.2.

I did as you suggested, and it worked - thanks!

I don't understand why it was OK yesterday, but not today. But as long as it works, I'm happy.

Ahhhh Why didn't I think of that? I have just re-installed version 0.4.2 because I wanted to add a graphic to a book I had finished, and 0.5.1 kept crashing. I was using the context menu. Silly me.

I like the changes in 0.5.1. Oh well I will re-install 0.5.1 now.

Toxaris, how do I do "adding via the menu" ?

Perhaps I should add that I don't have Insert function on my menu.

It seems like File, Edit, View, Format, Quick Settings, Window, Help. But none Insert button.

File -> New -> Add Existing, at least under 0.5.1.

Meme, you might have a good answer to another question. How do I make a cover page? The instructions on the basic tutorial has not worked.

i found this forum, downloaded 0.5.1 and it worked for me...

but what about audio files? i downloaded one to the misc file folder, but what next? and if i want to match to the page text then this requires segmenting the file or is there a way to insert markers of some type?

I am not Meme, but I hope you will still accept it...

Most user conjure up a cover containing the title and so on and a picture in a graphical program (most readers are 600(w)x800(h)). Add that image to Sigil. Create a new page and add the image to it (all options in the menu). Make sure that the new page is the first page in the document and most reader programs will pick it up as being the cover.

As of the moment Sigil does not support ePUB3, so also no embedding of audio. I don't know about the current version, but at least the older actually removed the audio tags. You have to set a placeholder in the document and change that to the audio tags outside Sigil. If you do a search in either this sub-forum or the epub-subforum you are bound to find several examples.

I agree, the placement of this is confusing.
There is 'New' Book
and I guess there is 'New' content
