Seeking contact for generalized assistance

I'm continuing to run into a lot of problems with just getting some of the basics down on my PB360+. The current method of taking a week or two to resolve one problem only to have the next immediately take its place is beginning to frustrate me, especially as I still cannot get purchased books onto it. I am sorely lacking in technical skills, and am looking for someone familiar with PB 360 who would be willing to email or even IM in order to assist me with more speedily navigating through this learning curve so I can get to the point of actually enjoying books and this device.

Thanks!

Generalized assistance? Why don't you describe s p e c i c i f i c a l l y one problem at a time?
Which "problems" did you have and how were they solved?
Right now I gather you have bought ebooks(from whom?) and probably have them stored on your PC. Now you want to transfer them onto your reader.
Is that it?
Isn't that covered in the manual somewhere - as this is one of the most common procedures ...

Miss, what kind of ebooks do you have purchased where?

If they are epub-books you must download and install Adobe Digital Edition on your PC.
The book shop most probably has sent you an "acsm" file. Open this file in ADE and your book will be downloaded to your computer.
Plug in your Pocketbook while ADE is open. You can then send the book to your reader.

If this explanation has been too general, please come back with special questions, as Beryll suggested. Tell us at which point you can't go on and we will try to lead you step by step.

I'm sure you will read on your Pocketbook soon.

Here is the thread about my problems with Kobo.

Here is my thread about issues with Adobe Digital Editions when I tried to get a book from Christianbook.com.

Not mentioned in the above thread is that when I try to bypass Adobe entirely and just place the file directly onto my PB like I do with library loans, it shows up on the reader with an error message and I can't access it.

Plus there are a myriad of other "little" issues I keep running into that i haven't had the chance to even look into yet, like when I change themes all my applications disappear except a PC link shows they're still there in the folder so they ought to show up, or when I try to take a note nothing comes up, or that I can't delete returned or non functioning books from the recently read list, or that a book I edited through calibre is now showing up completely blank, or that when I access the network through it I can't manage to even get to the browser window. For starters.

Here is my thread about the errors I was getting at first which turned out to be a faulty cable, a dysfunctional microSD card reader and an authorization password that was too lengthy for PB to accept.

It's not that I'm hesitant to give details, it's that things which ought to take a few brief minutes to resolve are taking weeks, and there are just too many to slog through to keep creating threads about them. Which is why I was asking for someone to work with me one-on-one.

Mr. Snyder, it appears you have assumed that I'm the type of person who refuses to help myself by first seeking out information available before requesting others' assistance. I trust the threads linked above demonstrate otherwise. It is already very difficult for me to swallow my pride and admit I'm still struggling with the barest of basics, so I kindly request that you be a gentleman and resist the temptation to rub it in my face.

Gender change? Beryll please.
I did not make any such assumptions, your post seemed somewhat confused(at least it confused me).
I hate the impression I was rubbing something in your face.
But it is interesting that you did not answer the question wether or not you have consulted the manual - and prefer to react in a way that appears to be pretty emotional.

Sorry about getting the gender wrong and writing a confusing post. Truth is, I am confused....which is why I was requesting help.

You're spot on that I'm emotional, too. Books are dear to me, I have involuntarily lived without them for several years and the prospect of having them accessible to me once more through an ereader seems almost too good to be true. It feels torturous to keep running into walls month after month after month; technical difficulties have been only part of it and I won't bore you with the rest.

Implying that I could easily solve my own problems by bothering to read a manual does upset me, because if you had taken a couple minutes to read some of my posts it should have been readily apparent that I was looking things up for myself before requesting help. Yes, I have consulted the manual, many times.

Let's be positive: there is one thing that works, library loans!

As you have tried many things already I would first start with a "clean copy".
Go Configuration -> Maintenance -> Clean state
You will lose all your bookmarks, all your current places in a book, some settings, but it will remove all remnants on the device's hard disk, too.

And which firmware do you have installed? Which number and is it the one your pocketbook was delivered with?

Again the same reaction. I just have asked: have you consulted the manual.
Where did I say you should help yourself?
This would go completely against the idea of a forum.
Right now I have to think a little bit.

Yes! The day I got that worked out I was tempted to start a thread here about how I got to read some favorite books again...I was over the moon! But I realized that could sound a bit silly so I simmered down little. I've since become a bit disappointed at the limited selection my library has, but do continue to enjoy this expansion of freedom.

Another member has contacted me for working through some of these things live so I think I'll hold off on that for now, but if we hit a rut I'll try it and get back to you on that.

As to the firmware, I don't know...how do I find out? I haven't manually changed the firmware at all, though every time it connects to a wireless network it says it's checking for updates.

Thanks for the link.

Beryll, if you're genuinely confused about my reaction then it may be a linguistics misunderstanding...feel free to PM me for more explanation if you like so this thread can remain on topic.

I'm afraid you'd have to update your PB360+'s firmware manually.

To find out what the version of the firmware is there you go to Settings-->About device
