Kindle Touch Outside USA
Hello,
My friend got me a Kindle Touch for my birthday. I'm living in Singapore and just wondering if it is necessary for me to register my device. Also, my friend told me not to switch on the WiFi as it would screw up the device - true? I wish Amazon would give Singapore a break... Thanks for any help that can be given. Cheers! |

If there is a specific Amazon Singapore site, I'd register there. Otherwise, you can register with your amazon.com account and get the usual full service as if you were in the US.
I use my kindle touch in Europe and Asia this way. Don't have any location related problem. |

One of the Kindle's selling points is that it is usable worldwide, so no matter where it was purchased, it is fully operable no matter where you are located - especially the WiFi model.
If you want to use collections, etc. you have to register it (just use your regular Amazon account and you'll be fine) ![]() |

1. Amazon never ship Kindle to Singapore directly, you may need courier for that.
2. If your country in 'Country Settings' in www.amazon.com/myk to 'Singapore', then it will make your Kindle not accessible to 3G/2G Singapore network. So pick other country address. |

Your friend is wrong. Register your kindle touch and turn on the wifi and all will be fine.

Just one point: some books (the free ones, at least) are not available worldwide.
An example: The War of the Worlds, from H. G. Wells. It isn't available for Latin America... :-( Despite this, everything works well enough. |

You can register Kindle outside US, better if you use US account so many active contents (most of them is games) available. To create US account, all you need is valid address in US, it means valid postcode and phone number at the address.
