PRS-T1; Calibre; & Wi-Fi

So I'm wondering: I have a paid subscription with the WSJ & I have been downloading it, w/my password, via Calibre & then transferring it via USB to my ereader. I just upgraded to the PRS-T1 & am investigating whether I can continue downloading the paper but somehow transferring the epub file to the T1 via Wi-Fi. (Maybe emailing it & downloading it through T1's browser? Haven't tried that.)

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

You can activate calibres content server and download directly, using the T1 webbrowser, as long as you are within your home wifi network. (I tried this, works like a charm).

Or you could make calibre send the file via email and then fetch the file using the browser or a dedicated mail app (rooting necessary, see the wiki). gmail has a very reasonable webmail interface for mobile devices.

You can activate both by going Preferences - Sharing in calibre.

Thanks for your response. Would you happen to have a "how-to-website" explaining how I can activate calibres content server? Calibre's direct website seems to speak in a whole other language. Thanks again, really appreciate it.

Search for a symbol in the top bar of calibre showing a cogwheel. This will open the preference/settings page in calibre. Then scroll down to "Sharing" and there you find both options.

Please also use the search function of the forum and check the calibre forums here at MR.

Of course, you could also purchase the WSJ subscription directly from SONY's store, instead of the one you have - that would save you some steps. But auto-delivery does not work on the T1, so you would still have to manually download it from the store - which is still simpler than what you are doing. Auto-delivery works on the older models, but, for some reason, not on the T1.

I am also interested in it. How to upload files from PC to T1 via Wi-Fi.
And I don't want to use the browser on T1.
I do have Apache running on my PC, but thank you very much.

I want to run something like samba on T1 and/or a ftp server and connect to it from PC and upload files. Are there any android apps that can be installed on T1 to do that?

Oh, sorry, solutions are already available:
