Christopher Paolini, Inheritance Cycle

I'm planning to start the first book this week and I'm surprised I couldn't find a discussion about this series. So, I decided to make a thread myself.
I'm curious to find out what you think of the series.
So, discuss away.......

I may start it in the near future. I didn't want to be left out hanging like I have with GRR Martin's series. So I wanted to wait to make sure its completed. Now that it is, I may give it a whirl.

I love the series. The last novel dragged out a bit longer than it should have and many would say its a letdown but i liked it.

It had too many "wtf are those characters doing" moments for me... felt to me like I was reading some indie author's work yet it's in a quite expensive price range. It wasn't BAD per se, just rubbed me the wrong way / didn't meet my expectations (the first novel) so I didn't dare to get the others...

Hated the first book. Seemed like a 15 year old kid with publisher parents had taken a bunch of cliched settings, characters and situations from a bunch of fantasy stories he had read and mashed them all together. Which is sort of exactly what it is. Frankly I don't think it would have been published if it wasn't his parents doing the publishing originally.

Enjoyed the series. Haven't read the final book yet. It's on my TBR pile along with The Omen Machine. Thought the first two were pretty good but the third one dragged a little. Hope he's really done and doesn't drag the series on forever a la Jordan or Goodkind.

Same here. I have it in paperback but I have many more books I want to read and this isn't far up on the list.
I like the series though.

Well, I found the first book in the series okay, but I hated the second. I never bothered reading the last two books as a result.

I also loved the first book; disliked the second book; stopped reading his work.
