lookup synopis of books within calibre?

calibre is like my dads workshop: hundreds of tools to do anything you want to do, IF you know what the tool is, and then WHERE to find it.

i acquire collections of books- people have made calibre library's of ePub books on different topics. often, there's not even a cover image. i don't recognize names, authors etc. so if i want to know what a book is about, i find myself copying the title, googling it, and sorting thru the google entries trying to find a short description of what the book is about.

is there a way to do this just from within calibre?

If you highlight a book; hit the Edit Metadata button then it opens up the dialog for looking at/chaning the metadata. On that is the Download Metadata button for looking up information about the book on the web and/or updating the cover. Note that you can also customsie the places that Calibre goes to for looking up metadata. Is that what you were looking for?

I have my default author link template (preferences-look and feel-book details) set at

http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/search/?searchfor=author&keywords={author}

This allows me to go to the authors page on fantastic fiction with one mouseclick on the authors name in the book details window, and then it is a mouseclick away to the synopsis of a particular book.

I find this a very very handy feature implemented by chaley. It allows me to check for new titles by an author easily among other things.
