New Checkers game on Kindle (there are two!)

Hi everyone,

We just debuted our first app for the Kindle yesterday, a Checkers game. Actually, much to our surprise Amazon released two checkers games yesterday. (I expect the other team is as surprised as we are.) Anyway, we're pretty proud of it. We put a lot of work in trying to get the most out of that e-Ink screen, both on the regular and DX. We've got more in the works for the Kindle and are looking to hone our craft, so feedback would definitely be appreciated!

If you want to check it out, we actually put an in-browser version up on our website that you can try for free:

http://www.codemystics.com/checkers.shtml

And the game itself is in the Kindle Store at

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004LSJF9O

I'll be watching here and reviews and would love to hear what people think.

- Jeff

i like the graphics but as usual, i keep losing xD

man, i am tempted to get this.

i like how it's very easy to use (with the screen showing the next possible moves and the corresponding letter on the keyboard)

will you be releasing rpg-type games on the kindle? maybe something like the game the warlock of firetop mountain

We tried to make the interface as painless as possible. I actually grew up on the TRS-80, pre-mouse and B&W screen, so I relate to the Kindle interface. In that sense, I could definitely see some text adventures working, at the least.

Anyway, if you don't like the default difficulty, you can set it down to 1. (It defaults to 4 on a scale of 1-8.) If you're still not happy, you can switch to Board Set Up Mode and give yourself some extra kings.

Just wondering: Any additional features people would like to see in our game?

Hi, I love your checkers game. I also play a version of checkers called American Pool Checkers (sometimes called Pool checkers for short), Very similar to the Russian and Brazilian variants. In American Pool Checkers the single men can jump forward and also backwards. Any kings can jump the whole length of the diagonal. Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pool_checkers

How difficult would something like this be to accomplish. I imagine something like this may be tough. Lots of time and work involved. Thank'shttps://www2.mobileread.com/i/smiliesadd1/thumbsup.gif

The checkers game is good except it freezes up on me and I can't make any moves, can't restart, nothing. It would be a good game if this didn't happen.
