Tennis Anyone - Aussie Open

So is anyone keeping up with the tennis at the moment? I'm trying to watch as much as I can however the time difference with the East Coast means I am following some of it one the net Live Scores at the moment Isner and Nalbandian are locked in a tie break after an epic 5 sets - Go Nalbandian! Aussie Casey Dellacqua is on later I really hope she makes it through

Isner seems to be a magnet for long early round matches.

I'm eagerly anticipating Roanic's second round match. He's got a tough draw to repeat a fourth round appearance with the winner of Roddick and Hewitt in the third round if he wins.

That Isner v Nalbandian certainly ended with some controversy with Nalbandian being unfairly denied a challenge by the chair umpire.

Djokovic and Tsonga are both due to play tommorow both are always entertaining and of course the Hewitt v Roddick match will be the must watch. I'm not the a big Hewitt fan but I am very parochial so I must barrack for Hewitt

I think Hewitt vs Roddick is a tough one to call. I am partial to Roddick. I watched Nadal vs Haas around midnight last night. Nadal was definitely stronger. I couldn't believe how thin Haas looked. I am on the road today, so please post info on matches. I can always get the scores, but not in depth analysis.

Djokovic is racing through his match against Santiago Giraldo with no problems as is Kvitova against Suarez but 9th seeded Tipsarevic is having a hard time against the young aussie James Duckworth Sweeting and Ferrer are locked into a pretty even looking battle curently in the 4th set 7-6, 2-6, 6-3, 1-1

Watching now. It is late here but I wanted to watch a little of it. Djokovic looks very strong. Kvitova has so much talent. Tsonga also looks good, but in the past has not shown enough desire to do what he needs to win.

Don't worry you're not alone there's a #sleepisfortheweek tag running on twitter at the moment for all those tuning into the Aus open at odd hours

I'm on the west coast of Aust(3hr time diff) I work during the day so follow it on the net then but usually get to see 3/4s of the night matches live on tv when I get home and sometimes they repeat the days highlights after the nights game is over.

Sadly due to Andy injuring himself this match is not turning out quite as well as it started, I always feel bad when players try and play through when their obviously not 100%

Bummer game over Andy retired due to injury good for Leyton though, next he's up against Raonic whom I don't know much about.

Too bad about Roddick. His career is looking to be done pretty soon. A few too many injuries the last few seasons.

@melmac. Raonic is a Canadian (now, born in Montenegro) who has pretty much destroyed every ranking stat for a Canadian male tennis player. He's got a gigantic serve and a punishing forehand. Not a lot of experience as this is only his second real season on the tour, but he had a meteoric rise going from #156 in the world in January of 2011 to #25 by the end of May 2011.

He just won his second ATP tournament in Chennai last week, beating Hanescu, Sela, Almagro, and Tipsarevic on the way. Last year he had wins against Ferrer, Stepanek, Fish, Verdasco, Llodra, and Youzhny. Should be an interesting match. Hewitt is usually an entertaining match. The winner gets an ugly round 4 match with Djokovic.

I'm rooting for Raonic as Canada hasn't had anything to cheer about in men's singles since Rusedski left for the UK.

I just wish all the matches weren't played between 11:00pm and 5:00am here.

Raonic is definitely a threat to Leyton. He has lots of weapons. Leyton is mentally tough but if Raonic feels confident he should win.
Between football and the Australian Open these next two weeks, I should be walkimg around like a Zombie. I love watching my Giants, but tennis is my true love.

I feel so badly for Roddick. When athletes can't play the sport that they love and have been playing everyday for most of their lives, they grieve. It is like loosing a loved one. Oh, oh I am already exhibiting signs of sleep deprivation.
