What SD-Card for EE and PE? How to convert Video for?
Hello together,
in a few days finitely I'll get my EE and the PE for my sister, as I hope. Unfortunately meanwhile I found just the information about this devices that they have slots for regular SD-Cards. But nowhere I found out what is the maximum possible card-space and if they works with SDHC-cards or just with the low-sized older SD-Cards. As well I couldn't find informations about the top speed the build-in cardreader is reaching if the used card supports the speed. My sister and me want to use the TFT-Screen for looking videos if we are traveling. So the SD-Cards should get enough space and be as fast as possible to enjoy the videos then. So my questions: - What is the maximum size of useable SD-Cards for the EE and PE? - SDHC possible to the reader - Does it makes sence to buy expensive but really fast SD-Cards like the Sandisk Extreme class 10 with 32GB (up to 30MB/sec) or is the money wasted and a cheaper one will be as same in speed if the reader doessn't support faster cards? - what format and resolution for videos is best for using them on the EE and the PE? MP4 as I assume? What converter and witch settings in this do you use for converting existing films matching the EE and PE? Would be nice to get some help with choosing the correct SD-Cards ![]() |

Hello Billi,
Thanks for the information about the card-slot of the PE. Perhaps anybody knows if a very expensive 32GB ultra-highspeed microSD with metal-shielded reverse side that I get as spare-part isn't waste for using this (just) in the the PE? Same if a Sandisk Extreme class 10 with 32GB makes sense in the EE or if a cheaper one has the same speed in the EE cause the limits of the build-in card-reader? |

For my EE I use a 32 GB class 4 SDHC and it does everything I need. I also have several 4 and 8 GB cards in class 4 and 10 that I use depending on the job in hand.
As far as I know the PE micro-SD cards can be anything from class 4 to 10 as well. The higher classes are not necessary in either the EE or PE - there are constraints of processor and components, but they should work, just not at their full speed potential. If you already have one that you don't have a use for, then there is no reason not to use it. |

Hi IvanJt,
thanks for your help. I asked because if the very expensive microSD (class 10) will perhaps better be placed in my HTC HD2 handy and the previous microSD from this handy (a simple class 4) comes into the PE. If the cardreader from the Entourage devices isn't as fast enough to use the possible speed of the SDcards in it's maximum, it doessn't affect if a slow or a fast one is pluged into this readers. Therfore I asked. In that case, I can swap the slow card of my handy against the fast card that was planned for using in the Entourage Pocket and everything is fine. best wishes Veronika |
