Best K3 keyboard case (that doesn't increase thickness too much)

Hi,

I was wondering what your recommendations are for a thin case/sleeve for the Kindle 3 keyboard? I don't really like the look/bulk of the Amazon leather cases, and I'm really more looking to protect the corners from bumps than the entire device. Willing spend $40-50.

Thanks.

I spent hours, maybe days, on Amazon and Google, looking for a cover that suits me well: I was looking for light weight, minimum thickness (just like you) and I wanted it to use the proprietary Amazon hinges to attach to the Kindle (I really don't like seeing straps running on the corners of the Kindle) and I could not find one.

Anyway, I've had my Kindle 3 for over a year and I beat it pretty hard, but never had a scratch on it. I believe no cover is the best cover :-)

Obviously, it depends on personal tastes. I just shared my personal experience :-)

It's the SCREEN that you need to protect. The corners will look after themselves .

I know you say you don't like it, but I have practical proof of the excellence of the protection of the Amazon leather cover. I (stupidly) put my Kindle down on the sloping, chest-high parapet of a bridge while taking a photograph. It slid off, fell 5 feet onto a concrete pavement, landed on edge, and bounced. The impact knocked a piece out of the plastic of the edge of the bezel, but the case absorbed the energy of the impact, and the screen was undamaged.

If you'd had the accident that I describe above, your Kindle would not have survived it. Do consider getting a cover - it makes a lot of sense.

Here's what I have and I really like it. Site says it's the daily deal for $10 and that's a great deal.

I use one of these:

It isn't stylish, but it's inexpensive and it does the job.

I went for this one, best one if you like minimalistic/simple look and I think it's one of the less thick ones.

Incipio Kaddy

Second that on the Incipio Kaddy. I've been using it for almost a year now and it protects the device well. It's also very comfortable to hold for extended periods. It's like a book cover.

Forget thickness just get a fabulous M-Edge or Oberon Designs case then your Kindle will be near Bulletproof ... Well not quite, but pretty safe anyway!

I don't want my Kindle in a bulky cover, so instead have a silicon skin on it and use an E-volve neoprene sleeve for when I take it anywhere.

I take care not to carry it in a bag with other objects that are likely to damage the screen, so far it's fell onto wooden flooring once, it landed on one corner and bounced. Perhaps I was just fortunate, or perhaps the combination of the skin and the sleeve were enough to protect it.

I dunno, I have had to pop back in the corners of the back cover of my Kindle several times after it has popped out due to some stress/impact.

I have amazon's lighted case for k3- I think it's fantastic. Very protective - the light is great and always handy. I don't find it too thick or too heavy, and it's a very well made.

I found this to be a reasonably protective cover. Does add a little thinkness but, I have bought these for 7 of my friends as they really liked it on my Kindle 3. Take care.
