I bought my 11 year old granddaughter a Kindle 4 for Christmas but it only came with the usb charger, can anyone recommend a wall charger that I could buy for her.

Any USB wall charger will work just fine. Do a search on, say, Amazon, for "USB Charger".

If you read the reviews, though, many of the cheap ones seem alarmingly prone to dying in unpleasant ways.

Would be nice if those chargers didn't take up so much space that they hog up two outlets (same comment goes for a lot of electronics nowadays, unfortunately).

That's not typically a problem in the UK, since our power sockets are much larger than those in the US.

I bought a Belkin wall-mounted surge protector which has two USB ports. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...kin-_-12167272) This is an option which avoids the need for a wall charger plus providing surge protection and extra outlets. Only $10 at Newegg, including shipping, as I write this.
