I have a problem
Hello!
Because frozen and no longer wanted to function at all, my Kindle has been replaced under warranty without the obligation to return the defective one. After nearly two months of receiving the new, I want to extract the battery to keep it, and... it started again in Duokan alternative OS! 2 days old stand being disconnected from the net and I do not want to start in the Kindle OS and hook up with 3G. Does it conflict with the new one which is now registered in its place ...? I want to keep him reading from it. How about: 1. Amazon can cut free from the net of those two if they find online the other who became functional now? "death" Kindle the other for 2 months is a bizarre situation that I do not feel guilty. 2. I can try to remove the SIM card and / or modem so that I would still use it to read, and I do not want to go with him accidentally 3G function for fear of losing net of both ... ? 3. I could use wifi only remove the old SIM card? p.s. I use google translation Thank you. Last edited by geoman1; 01-08-2012 at 06:28 AM. |

Even if you disable 3G, your kindle can still access amazon using wifi. It will send your log files to amazon.
You can prevent your kindle from accessing amazon by block their entire range of IP addresses (especially their proxy and DNS servers). This can be done by adding a firewall rule, of by using a hosts file, or a number of other ways. If it were my kindle, I would start by removing the SIM card, but there is more work to do if you wish to keep your kindle from accessing amazon servers. |

Wouldn't it be better to contact Amazon and let them know that the old one started working and offer to send it back?

I do not know. They did not want back. Perhaps more than worth the transportation costs... I'll probably keep the backup battery after all.

In that case, just keep using it. At worst, if they blacklist it so that it can't be registered or use 3G it'll still work as a reader, you'll just have to sideload everything.

Or, you could try to register it. If they question it you can say you repaired it. Because you are still a customer, they are not likely to take any drastic action other than just not allowing it to be registered (just like a kindle that was reported lost or stolen).
