Unhappy PRST1 dead?

I had left my PRST1 for about a month and yesterday i went to start it and it was dead. I plugged in in to a wall charger and left it for about 6 hours. The red light was off? I tried to start it but nothing. It was running stock 1.0.07.05070 firmware.
I started reading on this forum what to do. I tried reset, reset and power button, Home screen, Menu and power button and nothing worked (Black screen) I charged it all night on a wall charger (Red light was steady) Battery feels warm on the back when charging.
When i plug it in the computer it does not recognize the reader. The red light comes on for a few seconds then goes off.
I have looked at the recovery files off external sd but i can't get it to respond?
So this reader was working fine before i left it (was using my other PRS1) Ther battery was lasting a few weeks etc.. So what could have happened and why won't it start or respond? I have used 3 wall chargers progressively stronger and no luck?

Help..

Maybe the battery went dead.

I have tried taking out the Sd card, I've tried all the reset combinations i have read here. When i plug it in the red light comes on and stays lit for an hour (Maybe) The battery feels warm to touch while charging with the wall charger. (tried 3 chargers)
I used this about a month ago and the battery was lasting a few weeks at that time. I was using my backup reader in the meantime. When i went to use it again it would not start?
Seems strange it would suddenly die or have the Flash get corrupted when it was not being used?
It would be nice to try something but i can't get any response past the Red light while wall charging.

Actually at most a year, although several years are possible (think of all replacement or third party batteries that wait in the shops).
Every few weeks need lead-acid batteries
T1 is a low budget device, they may have shortcut some details, and let the battery "dry". Once empty (under 3V) a LiIon battery cannot longer be salvaged.

Boy a year does not seem every long for a product that cost over $100 new? I would have thought maybe 4 or 5 years?

The batteries are more or less the same in all readers, no matter how much you pay. They will last for two or three years, but if you let them get too low, their life gets shorter.

Buy and install new battery. I have seen many youtube videos how to teardown and change batteries. It isn't hard if your into that kind of thing. With numerous places that repair Iphones maybe one will replace your battery. My flip phone has easy to replace battery that most anyone can change but most of those batteries are 4+ years old and might not hold a charge. Also a good as new battery might not fix your reader if it has another hardware problem.

I have also seen Sony service manual for T1 available for download.

LiIon batteries are around 3.7V, depending on technology. No NiCd/NiMH technology can replace correctly a LiIon. The only solution is to use its MicroUSB port with an external battery, so-called PowerTanks. It's also non invasive.

Link showing opening T1 to replace screen.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqbYWHJk8Tk

I also found link to download service manual. It tells how to replace battery and has battery part number. Could not find replacement battery on line. Service manual gives tip on soldering battery cable to circuit board. I would cut each battery wire close to old battery and solder new battery wires to old wires which are still attached to circuit board. This way less chance to damage circuit board by soldering battery wires directly to circuit board. Shield circuit board from dripping solder.

I have not found replacement battery on line that is listed as correct for T1.
Easy to find one that would power the reader but they are unknown size and most likely wouldn't fit in reader.

Well, flat LiIon batteries are found everywhere, not necessarily for PRS-T1. Probably any cellphone battery that would fit, again not necessarily the whole space, can be used. Since T1 requires very little energy to work, even if the battery is smaller, it will last well not 6 weeks but 2-3-4. Enough for a vacation.
